Mullet Run Report

Sorry for the delay bur when realwork calls I gotta jet. And it really aint never been about blogging anyway, its all about fishing. Getting outside. Right now there is baait all over the place. Its off the beach, its in the inlets, and its in the canals. I've heard few too many reports on big fish. They haven't shown up. Thats a bummer. Here a video flashback to a big tarpon fight. It's coming.

Bait Update Fort Pierce Inlet Mullet Video

Fort Pierce Inlet - Solid video report from Chucks World of Fishing shows serious pod action at the Fort Pierce inlet. This thing aint over folks, another cold blast and these mullet will be making their way down south. So dont put away those 5 gallon buckets. And yes you do need more than one bucket. One to hold your bait and other to transport your water. Happy Bait.

Bait Update 10 15 2010

Fort Lauderdale - Its still Mullet Run where is everybody? I think Chard week combined with getting Blowed out by the back to back storms might have dampened some spirits, but come on peoplethere is bait everywhere. And I do mean everywhere. Its on the beach, in the canals, and in all the old places, but I'm still seeing guys on the bow of the boat, net cocked at 9 oclock at night. Whats up with that? Here is a tip if its after dark, and you still dont have any bait. Throw your net at the BAIT SPOTS! Throw it at the ramps or at the back of the dead end canals. DONT be throwing your net on the fishing spots. Especially when people are trying to fish. And if you are still struggling to get bait, just ask somebody for a few baits. You dont need to be throwing the net 25 times and going over and back over the fish with a 2 stroke. Got it? Good, now get bait.

Ustream Tonight 8pm - New Tournament Promo

Looks like I didn't miss much as far as the pod is concerned. I will tell you this, there was pod all over South Beach from 5th St to the Inlet, and there wasnt a serious Happy Baiter on them. Sure there were the usual locals casting chunk squid with the clicker still on, and I did see one hard core guy flipping pilchards around the jetty but thats it. Tonight, you are gonna wwanna watch The Captain Jeff Ustream Channel tonight, thats Wednesday October 13th at 8pm Tonights show is gonna be mostly about the Tournament but there will be the usual fishing updates and discussion about inshore as well as offshore, viewer mail, and twitter questions. So tune in even if you arent planning on competing in the tourny. Happy Bait. And always Run that Dog.

Editors Note - Follow Twitter

EDITORS NOTE - I'm back to work, back to making the hit TV shows your girlfriends and wives love to watch, so that means I wont be able to update this page or the Youtube as often as I have been. I will still be fielding reports, and I will try to update this Mullet Run blog from my iPhone but you know how that goes. The easiest way for me to post updates is through the Twitter. Dont be afraid of the Twitter. Its super simple and if you arent using it, its not what you think. We dont post what we are eating for lunch or update on how tired we are. I retweet the info as it comes in. We got real guys up and down the coast that check in with reports all day long. Its that easy. Follow The Mullet Run on Twitter

Blowed Out Otto

Fort Lauderdale - Talk about frustration! The pods are right friggen there! Too bad the 3ft shore break wont let us get to them. Actually you can get to them but that takes skill and I can't help you with that. Got to be creative if you want to get bait and fish a productive spot. We got ours. I just feel bad for all the happy baiters that lost a week of happy bait because of storm Otto. Be careful out there.

Video Captain Jeff Ustream Announcement

Youtube - Captain Jeff's Ustream Big Announcement was a huge success Wednesday night. Jeff talked about the State of the Mullet Run, the quality of the bait that we have been seeing along the beaches and he answered some viewer and Twitter questions. This video is just a Flip camera style capture of a few of the major highlights. The Big Announcement is the start of Captain Jeff's First Online Snook and Tarpon Tournament. Link To watch the entire Captain Jeff Ustream Event.

Mullet Cam - Blowed Out again

Fort Lauderdale - The wind was blowing 20 - 30 and the waves were crashing on the beach and breaching A1A. Too flippin' bad, because there were multiple pods traveling down the beach just beyond the breakers. You could see the fish hitting the schools but there was no way to get to the bait or to fish the pods. Good luck out there.
